Can you really cook a cheese muffin in a pizza box?

Students investigated the possibility of using solar energy to provide sufficient heat to melt the cheese on a muffin.

Have a look at how well we worked on this experiment.

First of all we had to construct the solar oven using the pizza box and other items.

Next we placed the solar ovens out in the sunlight to see if they would cook the cheese muffins.

SCIENCE - Solar Water Distiller

Year 5 students conducted an investigation into the power of the sun to distill water.  Solar energy from the sun evaporated the water, then it formed as drops of condensation on the cling wrap and dripped into the jar below.

What was the result of your group's investigation into distilling water using solar energy?

CONFIRMATION & EUCHARIST

Congratulations to Sarsha who received the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on Saturday.

Year 5 students have been learning about the "Gifts of the Holy Spirit" and the "Fruits of the Holy Spirit" in our Religion studies this term.

Hypotheses were stated, procedures followed, observations noted and conclusions drawn.

NETBALL NEWS

The big news from this week's netball games was Violet's trip to hospital in an ambulance!
Violet had a fall during the Year 5 netball game and came off second best.
The excitement of the day was the arrival of the ambulance and Violet being wheeled off on a stretcher.
The good news is that Violet was quickly attended to at the Gold Coast University Hospital, but has a broken wrist!
